01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Choose a beer, add a sausage that catches your eye, and settle in for a casual drink—or take your time comparing several brews. That flexibility is part of the appeal at Craft Beer Spot Hathor in Kyobashi. Its selection includes beers from Japan and overseas, and the line-up changes. One visitor enjoyed more than ten varieties; another described up to 16 taps. Part of the fun is seeing what is available on the day and deciding what to try next. Some diners have used colour-coded labels to guide their choice. In 2025/1, visitors enjoyed the citrus notes of a yuzu white and a West Coast pilsner with restrained bitterness. You could also ask the staff for advice as you choose a beer to suit your tastes.
House-made sausages make natural companions to the beer. The menu has been described as offering 6 flavours, with the fillings sometimes changing by season. One diner recommends the burdock sausage, while another remembers the savoury flavour of the prawn version. A visitor who ordered the firefly squid sausage said it made them want to drink more beer. There is a choice between familiar flavours and more unusual fillings. One diner ordered the Mao Zedong-style and firefly squid sausages, but those were their choices on that visit; check what is available when you go.
For a lighter snack, there is unlimited popcorn. Some visitors enjoyed it as an appetiser, while others nibbled on it as they drank. It could suit a first beer before ordering a sausage, or keep you going while you linger over a drink. Beyond the sausages, a returning visitor singled out the French fries, and other diners enjoyed raw, grilled and steamed oysters. There is room to try several dishes over the course of an evening, or simply drop in for a beer and a light bite.
Some visitors have enjoyed choosing their beer while chatting with the staff at the counter, and hearing about the differences between brews and the breweries behind them. On weekdays, the bar opens at 17:00; on Saturdays and Sundays, it opens at 15:00. Both schedules run until 0:00 the following day.
